24 Militants killed in Lower Dir

MINGORA: The death toll of militants in the counter-insurgency operation of the security forces in Swat and Buner has reached to 24.

The exodus of population continued in Buner during the curfew break on Wednesday.

The forces continued artillery shelling at the suspected hideouts of the militants in Buner killing at least 14 militants, local sources said.

Security forces narrowed down the siege of the militants in Lunde Kass in Swat and killed 10 militants.

Intense fighting has been continued between the security forces and militants in Peochar agrea of tehsil Matta.

Three persons including a woman were killed in Kokari area in the vicinity of Mingora when a shell landed in a house.

The forces have surrounded the Lunde Kass near Mingora.

Meanwhile, intense fighting continued in Mian Hayat Sari in Lower Dir in which eight militants and two security men were reportedly killed.
