31 Militants Dead in Afghan Fight KABUL: The Afghan government says a large battle in southern Afghanistan has killed 31 militants.

The Interior Ministry says a joint operation Tuesday between police and international forces in the Kajaki region of Helmand province killed 31 militants and wounded 20.

News of the dead near Kajaki comes one day after a police chief in Uruzgan province said Afghan and foreign troops killed 30 Taliban fighters in his province.
