55% decrease in FDI: SBP
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 2:50 pm
During the first seven months of the current fiscal year a decrease of 55 percent was recorded in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
According to the State Bank of Pakistan, FDI worth $1.18 billion was invested from July 2009 to Jan 2010 however during the same period last year this amount was seen at $2.69 billion.
Experts believe due to the in-stable situation on the political and security front a decrease in investment has been recorded. Given the current scenario, Pakistan badly needs FDI to achieve its economic targets.
