WASHINGTON: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has said diplomacy will be the key to success of the Obama administration’s new Afghanistan-Pakistan plan.
In an internal message to State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) personnel worldwide, she said meeting core goal requires use of all elements of the US national power including diplomatic, development, military, economic and informational power.
“The major shift in this strategy is to emphasize diplomatic and civilian efforts to achieve US objectives in Afghanistan and Pakistan”, she added.
