Two days after winning the trust vote, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday (July 24) met President Pratibha Patil and briefed her about the special session in the Lok Sabha. A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said the meeting lasted 25 minutes during which the President was informed about the deliberations of Lok Sabha’s special session among other issues. The session ended on Tuesday (July 22).

The meeting was the first after the Prime Minister met the President on July 10 expressing his readiness to face a floor test after Pratibha Patil received a letter from the Left parties withdrawing support to the UPA government. The spokesperson said the Prime Minister also briefed the President about other issues of national and international importance. (PTI)
