Aitzaz Ahsan Says Kurd Without Doubt Win The Vote KARACHI: President Supreme Court Bar Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan has said that Ali Ahmed Kurd will certainly win the Bar election being held today.

Talking to ARY OneWorld on a question he said the judiciary will become independent and Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry will be restored.

Aitzaz Ahsan said the independent judiciary will be helpful to curb inflated power bills and poverty alleviation.

Replying another question he said defeat of Ali Ahmed Kurd will be a debacle for the lawyers’ movement for restoration of the free judiciary. No one can protect the judiciary as better as Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry, Aitzaz said.

Commenting on alliance between PPP top lawyers and former Attorney General Malik Qayyum, the SCBA President said, “Malik Qayyum was the judge that had awarded 5-5 years’ sentences to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari.

Aitzaz appealed the lawyers to elect Ali Ahmed Kurd for the independent judiciary in the country.

Meanwhile, polling for Supreme Court Bar election was also underway in Karachi as the supporters of Kurd and M. Zaffar are chanting slogans and traditional enthusiasm being seen in the lawyers who are backing their candidates.
