KARACHI: The government is working simultaneously on windmill, biofuel and solar energy projects in a bid to overcome power shortage in the province.
This was stated by Sindh Minister for Environment and Alternative Energy, S. Askari Taqvi, while talking to Geo News on Saturday.
Taqvi informed that a foreign company had launched a project of windmill in Sindh and hoped it would become operational by the end of next year.
He said to overcome water shortage in the province, work is also underway on a solar project to desalinate the sea water.
Water will also be desalinated from wells to cater to the needs of villages without access to sweet water, he added.
The Provincial Minister said projects for generating gas and electricity by using biofuel were also under consideration.
