Aniston pips Pitt but troubled with Mayer

Revenge has been very sweet for actress Jennifer Aniston this festive season. Her latest movie ‘Marley and Me’ has thrashed her ex-husband’s Brad Pitt’s movie ‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’ in the US box office.

But while she is on cloud nine enjoying her success all is not well with her love life. Despite appearing inseparable in recent weeks after reuniting in November, Aniston and her boyfriend John Mayer spent the Christmas holidays apart, prompting speculation their relationship may have soured.

After spending a week in New York promoting her new film ‘Marley & Me’ and spending time with Mayer, Aniston returned to Los Angeles to celebrate the Christmas Eve dining with best friend Courteney Cox, husband David Arquette and their daughter Coco, Daily Mail reported.

While Mayer spent Christmas with his family before returning to the West Coast with his brothers Carl and Ben on Boxing Day.

Earlier this month, the 39 year-old actress spoke publicly about her feelings for Mayer, describing his as ‘extraordinary’.

It is unclear whether the couple will be spending New Year’s Eve together. Aniston’s crictics have slammed the relationship and has termed it as a publicity gimmick on part of Aniston to promote her latest film.

Aniston’s movie ‘Marley & Me’, also starring Owen Wilson, took USD 14.6 million on its opening day and took an additional USD 37 million over the weekend.

Meanwhile, her ex-husband Pitt’s new film ‘The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button’ took USD 11.4 million on the opening day, landing at the number three spot.
