At least 52 militants were killed here Friday when security forces launched a fresh operation in Khyber agency against miscreants.
Four hideouts and eight vehicles allegedly belong to local militants were also destroyed in the operation, said the channel. An ammunition depot of suspected militants was also claimed to be targeted by the military.
Earlier in the day, a suicide bomber blew his explosive-laden vehicle in the agency near a security check point on a key highway leading to Afghanistan. At least four were reported to be wounded in the incident.
The suicide attacker detonated his explosives after he was stopped by members of the Khasadar militia about 20 km from the spot where personnel were repairing a key bridge on the Pakistan-Afghanistan highway that carries vital supplies for US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
The bridge was destroyed by pro-Taliban militants on Tuesday.
