Balochistan Budget For Next Fiscal Year Today

QUETTA: Balochistan’s budget for the next financial year 2010-11 will be unveiled on today(Monday).
Balochistan’s Finance Minister, Mir Asim Kurd will present the 2010-11 budget in the session of Balochistan Assembly.
The Balochistan budget for financial year 2010-11 would be a development-oriented budget with an expected outlay of Rs 45 billion for development actives. Sources said education has been given maximum priority in the budget.
The sources though did not disclose the exact total volume of the province’s next financial year budget, yet it had been estimated as up to Rs 120 billion, record increase of around Rs. 45 billion as compared to the current budget due to enhanced share of the province in the NFC-Award and the Gas Development Surcharge (GDS).
The non-development budget of the province would be up to Rs 70 billion.
Mir Muhammad Asim Kurd said that the provincial budget would be as per aspirations of the people and added that it would be a tax-free budget. He said that education would be given top priority in the new budget as record Rs 22 billion would be allocated for this sector.
While the health and water supply sectors would also get additional allocations in the budget, he added.
Finance minister said that the province would get around Rs 83 billion as per its share under the new National Finance Commission (NFC) Award while Rs 10 to Rs 13billion are expected from direct transfers.
He said 20,000 new jobs would be created in the upcoming budget. He also disclosed that the salaries of the government employees and those of the police personnel would be increased and added that it would cost Rs 10 to 15 billion rupees burden on province’s exchequer.
