Bangladesh Seek US Help for Border Security Bangladeshi Home Minister Sahara Khatun said the United States would provide support to Bangladesh in holding the trial of war criminals and combating global terrorism.

She stated this to reporters after a meeting with visiting US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake at the home ministry.

The home minister told the State Department senior official that the people want the trial of the war criminals, one of the main election pledges of the present government. She said Blake assured her of the US support in this regard.

Sahara said during her meeting with Blake, the issue of Bangladesh Rifles, community police and training of Bangladesh law enforcement agencies came up for discussion.

The US wants to support the strengthening of the BDR, she said, but did not elaborate what would be the nature of the support.

The home minister said Blake agreed on her proposal to increase training of Rab, police and other law enforcement agencies.
