Better Equipment Won’t Win Afghanistan War: Gen. Parker, The most senior British commander in Afghanistan says more helicopters and better equipment won’t win the war against the Taliban.
Lt. Gen. Nick Parker, Deputy Commander of Nato forces in Afghanistan, says he holds that opinion even though his son Capt. Harry Parker was gravely wounded by a roadside bomb. His son lost both legs in a bomb blast in July.
In an exclusive interview with the News of the World, and with images fresh in his mind of 26-year-old son Harry battling to rebuild his life having lost both legs, General Parker insisted, “Rather than asking for more helicopters – which may be a requirement – what we’ve got to do is develop tactics that get you out and amongst the people and re-establish ourselves as a force for good in the community”. On the other hand according to a research published in British newspaper Independent, 71 percent of English people are in support of British troops’ pull out from Afghanistan.
