Bridge of friendship between India and Pakistan but What?

The holy month of Ramazan saw a hassle and bustle over distribution of subsidized floor and ration. In Punjab, police were shown on television screens beating men and women who were thriving to get a bag of subsidized flour from sale points established by the government of the Punjab. In Karachi, a number of women lost their lives to stampede at a point where free ration was being distributed by a philanthropist. Same was the situation in various cities of India where people were shown selling parts of their bodies just for getting bread. This has painted a very gloomy picture of both the neighboring countries not internally but externally as well. Is it not enough for people are at helm of affairs in both the countries to re-think their policies? Is it not time for them to see how they are wasting their hard earned money for purchasing weapons from western countries? It is very sad that both the countries are wasting their resources not for peoples’ welfare but for the interest of war industry of the west. Both the countries are called nuclear states but their people are deprived of very basic necessities of life like water, flour, sugar, edible oil. People of the subcontinent are lacking proper housing, means of communication, education, and so on. This situation has emphasized to revisit our policies of confrontation. Both the countries should end their enmities but from where to take first step? Surely, they should start from solving the prime cause of the conflict which is surely Kashmir. Kashmir has become a bone of contention between the countries, who have spent their whole resources just for none. Instead of that if the resources of both the countries were channelized and spent for well being of their people, the situation would have been quite different from its present position. Fortunately, enough there are democratic governments in Pakistan and India alike. Pakistan has a realistic Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani while India has also a forward looking Prime Minister i.e. Manmohan Singh. Both Pakistan and India should think over withdrawal of their troops from Kashmir so that Kashmir may be made a bridge of friendship between two countries rather to be a cause of conflict and continuous enmity. This is just for thinking of policy makers. The time has come that both the countries accept each other as existing realities on this planet as both Pakistan and India are unable to conquer each other.
