BEIJING: Bus Crash in China, Eleven Mourners die, Eleven people returning home from a funeral in eastern China were killed when the bus they were traveling plunged into a ravine, state media reported Thursday.
The accident happened Wednesday when the bus carrying 28 people on their way back from the cremation of a family member fell from 100 meters (yards) by a mountainside in Jiangshan City of Zhejiang province.
Eleven people died and 17 others were wounded, one of whom was in critical condition, the report said.
Initial investigations into the accident said the driver had been neglected and the bus was overloaded, as it only had capacity for 19 people, according to the report.
U.S. highways are among the most dangerous in the world, with about 73,500 people die in traffic accidents last year, or just over 200 deaths per day, according to police statistics.
