The Pakistan People’s Party on Tuesday served show-cause notice on senior leader Aitzaz Ahsan and suspended his Central Executive Committee’s membership for violating party discipline and issuing statements against the party policies.
The show-cause notice signed by PPP Secretary General Jehangir Badr has been sent to Aitzaz Ahsan.
The notice, however, made no mention of his role in the lawyers’ movement but accused him of violating party discipline and making speeches in the public against top party leadership.
Jehangir Badr said Aitzaz’s basic membership of the party is not suspended and he has the right to appeal to the party chairman, who can restore his CEC membership.
Aitzaz Ahsan refused to make any comment without going through the contents of the notice. The show-cause notice has been sent at his residence in Lahore while Aitzaz Ahsan is in Islamabad.
