Centre shied away from taking action: Rajnath

The BJP today (Oct 30) alleged that a “confused” government in Delhi is responsible for the serial
blasts in Assam claiming it shied away from taking action against illegal Bangladeshi migrants due to its vote-bank considerations.
“This is all due to a confused government in Delhi which is undetermined and shying away from action against the terror elements. Vote-bank considerations stop them from identifying and deporting illegal Bangladeshi migrants,” BJP chief Rajnath Singh said.
He said terrorists have no religion and every act of terror is unpardonable and an act against humanity. It is time that the government keeps aside its political considerations and sit together with all stake holders including the opposition to evolve a national consensus on the issue.
“We condemn the blasts in Assam today. It is an act of cowardice. We extend our condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the blasts. The government should make all arrangements to ensure speedy recovery,” Singh said.
These blasts are yet another example that show Congress is clueless on terror. Whether it is SIMI, HuJI or ULFA, perpetrators are known to the state. This is a direct outcome of Congress soft-pedalling terror, BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters.
Blasts symbolic of insecurity in the country: Advani
The serial blasts in Assam were symbolic of the sense of insecurity in the country and the UPA government has failed to combat terror, senior BJP leader L K Advani today accused.
“I believe that these blasts are symbolic of the sense of insecurity in the country. This also proves the total failure of the government in combating terrorism,” he told reporters in New Delhi.
Advani said it is likely that illegal Bangladeshi migrants from Assam, which has seen an increasing influx of these people in recent years, could be involved in the blasts.
Assam blasts exposed intelligence failure: CPI
Condemning the serial blasts in Assam, the CPI said it had once again exposed the failure of policing and intelligence agencies as also of the Centre and the state government.
“Assam is one of the sensitive states in the Northeast, having international borders and infested with insurgency. The Union Government, particularly the Home Ministry, should not treat this as one of the routine things happening in the country,” the party’s Central Secretariat said.
Demanding stringent action to pin down the culprits, the CPI also urged the people to remain united and foil the sinister designs of the terrorists who were targetting the common people to create fear and instability in the country.
It said the terror act has “once again exposed the inefficiency of our policing and intelligence agencies and also the failure of the Union and the State governments”.
US condemns serial blasts in Assam
The United States has condemned as “horrific attacks on innocent people” the serial blasts in Assam and extended its deepest sympathies to the families of the victims.
On behalf of the US, Ambassador David C Mulford extended his deepest sympathies to families of those killed and injured in the blasts.
“I send condolences to the people of India. Americans share their sorrow and outrage at these horrific attacks on innocent people,” Mulford was quoted as saying in a statement issued by the American embassy.
