Error in Mumbai terrorists’ DNA reports minor issue, Chidambaram

Error in Mumbai terrorists’ DNA reports minor issue, ChidambaramUnion Home Minister P. Chidambaram has said the possible goof-up in sending identical DNA reports of terrorists involved in Mumbai attack is a minor issue as Pakistan has already admitted that the accused who died in the attack were from Pakistan.

“It’’s a possible that in photocopying or duplication, the same report was placed in two places but it is a minor clerical error. The point is Kasab is alive. You can get his DNA tested again, while the others are dead. Dead man’’s DNA report doesn’t tell you anything. Pakistan no longer denies that Abu Ismail and other are from Pakistan,” said Chidambaram, while interacting with media persons in Mumbai.

Pakistan’’s top Interior Ministry official said that in response to India’’s dossier on the Mumbai attacks, Pakistan had sent 32 questions to it with the request to provide some very important information, but the answer provided by India had not provided sufficient details.

Further the Pakistani official said that the statement recorded by Ajmal Kasab before a local judicial magistrate in India had not been provided to Pakistan, whereas the DNA reports provided were also confusing.

Kasab was one of the 10 gunmen who arrived in Mumbai by sea last November
and rampaged through landmarks including five star hotels, the main train
station and a Jewish centre.

166 people were killed in the three-day rampage.
