Congress trying to keep flock together

Even as the Congress is leaving no stone unturned to woo the smaller parties in a bid to win the confidence motion on July 22, rumours are abuzz that there is a rift within the Congress. It’s learnt that 2 of the party’s MPs — R L Jalappa and Arvind Sharma (Cong MP from Karnal) may vote against it.
The rumours gained ground after R L Jalappa, one of the biggest financiers of the Karnataka Congress, openly expressed his dissatisfaction with the Congress Party.
Even though Jalappa has maintained that he will vote for the Congress, sources have alleged that his differences with the state Congress leadership are growing.
When questioned about the widening rift between him and the Congress, RL Jalappa said:”I have already expressed that I am not happy.” Replying to a question whether he would discuss with his friends in the BJP or the Congress, he said:”I cannot tell you with whom I am going to discuss?”
While another Congress MP from Karnal — Arvind Sharma — has refused to toe the party line and has indicated that he has differences with the central leadership. Sources have alleged that he has been approached by Mayawati and is not likely to vote in favour of the UPA government, however, he has strongly denied it.
Meanwhile, speculation is also rife that another Congress MP — popular filmstar MH Ambarish — has tendered his resignation as an MP following the Cauvery water dispute judgement. His resignation, however, has been rejected.
Mamata to vote against UPA govt
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has decided to vote against the government. Mamata has said that the government should seek a fresh mandate. TMC has one MP in the Lok Sabha.
