Country’s seventh IIM opens

Sixty CAT-qualified students began their academic courses in the country’s seventh IIM which was formally inaugurated in Shillong today (July 4).
The ace business school, christened as the Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management (RGIIM), began its maiden academic session at the temporary Mayurbhanj Complex of the North Eastern Hills University (NEHU).
Work will soon begin on a 120-acre site for the permanent campus of the IIM.
The institute offers the Post Graduate Programme in management, which is a two year full time residential programme for graduate students from all disciplines.
Besides, the institute envisages for its flagship programme, Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management, an annual intake of 60 students, which would be increased to 120 in the third year and 180 in the sixth year.
Fellowship programmes in management, tourism, hospitality, tele-services and tele-medicine, information systems and technology and subjects of local relevance like horticulture and hydel power would also be offered.
