Dil Bole Hadippa Movie Review

Dil Bole Hadippa Review,

Gone are those day when a Yash Raj Movie’s music album was as eagerly awaited as the Mumbai monsoons. With each passing film their music seems to have the same Déjà vu feel to it. Yes, its Punjabi folk style with bhangra being the common element in all.

The soundtrack of Dil Bole Hadippa is not only monotonous and repetitive but its lyrical value is also restricted to Punjabi words and lingo. Agreed the movie is shot and based in Punjab, but even earlier, Yash Raj movies based in Punjab had a great lyrical value (Mr Jaideep Sahni are you listening).

The 1st track Hadippa (Mika Singh) is the typical run of the mill Punjabi number…the song is very unlike a movie song. The song is currently popular on the TV channels but it can be easily that it doesn’t have a great repeat value and will soon fizzle out in the long run.

Come to the 2nd track Discowale Khisko (K.K, Sunidhi Chauhan, Rana m) it’s hard to figure out when the title track ends and when does this begin. The musical arrangements are so similar. It is a celebration song and might look good with the help of some good choreography and Shahids moves in the movie.

Ishq Hi Hai Rab (Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal) is a mellow song filmed on the lead pair of movie to carry forward their romantic liaison in the movie. The highlight of this song is Shreya Ghoshal’s vocal’s seamlessly blend with that of Sonu Nigams.

Till you reach the 4th song of the album, Bhangra Bistar (Alisha Chinoy, Sunidhi Chauhan, Hard Kaur) you are irritated with the overdose of dhol and bhangra… The lyrics sound very pretentious and wannabe Punjabi.

Gym Shim (sung and composed by Joshilay) sounds more like a Punjabi nursery rhyme set to tune with dhols…If this song is played in the gym while a work out session, I cant assure a weight loss but can guarantee a mind loss. It’s just amateurish.

The album ends with the remixed version of Discowale Khisko (Master Salim) & Hadippa (Mika Singh, Sunidhi Chauhan). Since the originals are not noteworthy the remixes fall flat..!

Verdict: Best avoided! It’s a tedious and lackluster soundtrack, with the music/lyrics lacking quality & tempo. Please tell the makers that it’s a Hindi Movie and not a Punjabi Movie.
