Don’t want to join politics: Sanjay Dutt

Sunday, December 7, 2008 at 11:12 am

For all those who had assumed that Sanjay Dutt’s all set to make a grand debut in the world of politics, well, think again. In an exlusive interview to TIMES NOW’s Janice Sequeira, the actor revealed that he has no political ambitions right now.

Salt and pepper colored hair, a full grown beard, khakee attire and a leaner built. In his new avtaar, Sanjay Dutt looks as close to being a rockstar as he’ll ever be! He said, “When I was told this role. I felt I should play that mature kind of intelligence officer. So I just coloured my hair a bit grey and the beard is natural.”

Shooting for close friend Bunty Walia’s film, Lamha, the ever smiling Munnabhai is in a sombre mood. His faith in the system has suffered a setback. So much so, that he’s even shelved his political plans for now.

He said, “No no. I don’t want to enter politics and go through what politicians go through. But I definitely want to voice my opinion. One person cannot change the system. You look at my father he could not change anything. He was righteous citizen and a fantastic politician. He loved this country and believed in the people of the country, but he could not change it. All I can say to them is that I think its high time they take a stand, just like George Bush did. The whole world said Iraq is wrong but he said it was right.”

The actor does not stop there. He further recalls the poor state of affairs in Kashmir and his experiences with the armed forces whilst there. He said, “It was not difficult at all to shoot in Kashmir. Infact it is always a pleasure to be in Kashmir. But definitely you cannot shoot in areas, like the sets we have built. You cannot shoot in old Kashmir because those are sensitive areas.”
