KARACHI Pakistan News — The Pakistan government had succeeded in persuading Dubai Government to impose ban on airing of country’s premier Cable TV Geo News’ popular political chat programme ‘Meray Mutabiq’ from Dubai.
The news of the ban was disclosed by the presenter, Dr Shahid Masood, himself during his show on Monday night, but he did not reveal the location where the programme was recorded and shown in Pakistan and other parts of the world.

This is the second time that Geo TV which also broadcasts several other programmes from its Dubai studios had been slapped ban. On previous occasion Geo and several other Pakistani channels were banned for several months on the orders of the then dictator President Pervez Musharraf.
Action Slammed
Geo’s, a sister organisation of country’s most powerful media group, Jang, has condemned Pakistan government’s action claiming it tantamount to targeting the freedom of expression in the country.
Ironically, Dr Masood, was once associated with Pakistan People’s Party and was even appointed to head government-controlled Pakistan Television (PTV) by Prime Minister, Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani after Pakistan People’s Party led government was installed in 2008.
He was forced to quit the job after developing differences with the then information minister, Sherry Rehman, who too later had to step down due to power struggle within Pakistan People’s Party. Source and Courtesy khaleejtimes
