Earthquake in Maharashtra, India

Mumbai: Earthquake in Maharashtra, India, Light tremors measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale were felt across Maharashtra especially in the Kankan region on Saturday evening at around 5.20 pm.
According to reports, the tremors were felt in Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sidhudurg and Raigarh.
The area around the Kyona dam of Mahrashtra was the centre of the quake. No damage of property or loss to human life has been reported so far.
A similar incident was witnessed on November 14 when a moderate intensity earthquake of 4.7 on the Richter Scale hit the same region.
According to seismologists, there is a seismic belt around the Koyna dam region that prompts these tremors.
