Earthquake Jolts Felt in Country

A mild tremor was felt in Dhaka, Sylhet and different other places across the country early today. The epicentre of the tremor was 424 kilometers away from Agargaon Seismic Centre in Dhaka near Myanmar-India bordering area, said the Meteorological Office in Dhaka.
It also said the magnitude of the quake that jolted Bangladesh at 2:52am was 6.0 at the epicentre. However, the US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the tremor at 5.9 on the Richter scale.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, said the Meteorological Office in Dhaka.
Our staff correspondent in Sylhet reported that although many people came out of their residences after they felt the tremor but there was no report of casualties.
