Euro Up Against Dollar to $1.4392

FRANKFURT: The euro edged slightly higher in post-Christmas holiday trading Monday in Europe.

The 16-nation euro bought $1.4392 in early European trading compared with $1.4371 it bought in late trading Thursday in New York. Most markets worldwide were closed Friday for the Christmas holiday.

The British pound gained slightly, too, rising to $1.5985 in Monday trading compared with $1.5953 in Thursday trading in New York though markets in London are closed for the holiday.

The dollar slipped to 91.48 Japanese yen from 91.56 yen on Dec. 24, too.
