Kannada actress and co-accused in the sensational Neeraj Grover murder case, Maria Susairaj, today (Oct 13) approached the Bombay High Court seeking bail.
The bail petition will come up for hearing on October 18, Susairaj’s advocate Guru Kannur said. Earlier, the sessions court had rejected her bail plea two weeks back.
The advocate claimed that Susairaj had no motive to murder Neeraj Grover, creative executive with TV production house Synergy Adlabs.
“If there was no motive, there would not be any conspiracy. At the most, Susairaj can be charged for destruction of evidence and not murder,” Kannur said.
According to the bail plea, Susairaj in her confession had said it was the co-accused and her naval officer fiance Emile Jerome Mathew who had stabbed Grover and cut his body into many pieces.
Mathew had also allegedly raped Susairaj twice after the incident at knife point. “Hence, Susairaj can be booked only under Section 201 for destruction of evidence, which is a bailable offense,” Kannur said.
The sessions court had rejected the bail application observing that there was prima facie evidence to prove Susairaj’s involvement in the murder.
Susairaj and Mathew had on May 7 this year allegedly stabbed to death Grover at the former’s suburban residence and burnt Grover’s chopped body at Manor in the outskirts of Mumbai.
