Gunmen Kill Three Lawyers In Karachi
Three lawyers belonging to Shia community were killed and another was injured when gunmen opened fire on their vehicle here at Pakistan Chowk area on Wednesday. A fourth lawyers is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery at the Civil Hospital.
The dead lawyers include Kafeel, Shakeel and Badar Ali. The attackers escaped from the scene after committing crime in open day light. The lawyer community announced a countrywide srtrike tomorrow (Thursday). Eye witnesses told to sources that four motorcycle riders on two bikes were pursuing the lawyers car for some distance and ambushed the car while it was being parked.
Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Yasin Azad has announced that the lawyers’ fraternity will observe country-wide strike and boycott court activities against the killing of three lawyers in Karachi. Four gunmen, riding two motorcycles, opened fire on Lawyers’ car when they were going back home from City Court in Arambagh area.
The police have described the act as target killing and say the attackers were riding motorcycles and chased the lawyers from the city court. After the incident, security men reached the spot and cordoned off the area. Talking to the a private TV channel, the federal Interior Minister Rahman Malik said that banned outfits are being activated in Karachi. We have beefed up security that no such incident takes place in future, he added.
upreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Yasin Azad said that lawyers’ killing would not be tolerated, adding that law enforcement agencies had failed to provide security to lawyers. Meanwhile, Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat ul Ebad has vehemently condemned the incident.
