Singer-actress Whitney Houston’s stepmother is suing her for having improperly kept the proceeds of the insurance policy of her late father.
The 45-year-old Houston has not kept a clean record of the proceeds from John Houston’s $1 million insurance policy after his death in 2003.
The papers were filed in federal court in Newark, New Jersey, by her step mother Barbara Houston, Contactmusic reported.
The lawsuit states the singer was supposed to use $723,000 to pay off the mortgage that she holds on her father’s Fort Lee, condominium.
Her stepmother, who still lives on the property, claims the singer was also supposed to return the remaining insurance money to her.
