Former ambassador to US Husain Haqqani s lawyer Zahid Bukhari has been issued British visa. British High Commission has issued the visa to Husain Haqqani’s lawyer Zahid Bukhari Tuesday.
Counsel for Husain Haqqani Zahid Bukhari said that now he would be unable to attend the recording of Mansoor Ijaz’s testimony at the London High Commission on February 22 (Wednesday) as a visa to UK has been issued to him too late.
Bukhari, however, would still not be able to accompany the judicial commission panel in London during the record of Mansoor Ijaz’s statement in the Memogate scandal. While talking to media, Bukhari said that the British High Commission informed him about the visa over the phone. On the other hand, Secretary of the judicial commission Raja Jawad Abbas has reached London to collect evidence from Mansoor Ijaz and Blackberry’s data.
Bukhari said he was trying to arrange his journey to London but thinks unlikely to reach there due to scarce time. He said that he will bring up the issue before the judicial commission in tomorrow’s hearing if failed to travel to London. Ijaz was summoned several times by the judicial commission probing the Memogate scandal, but the Pakistani-American businessman refused to come to Pakistan over security concerns.
Zahid Bukhari said that the visa was issued late and he has less time to make traveling arrangements. A judicial panel was formed to record his statement in London, while the bench will monitor the statements via video link
