IM suspect sent to 7 days’ PC in Delhi serial blasts case

Suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) activist Quaumuddin, brought here from Madhya Pradesh in connection with the September 13 serial blasts here, was today remanded to seven days in police custody by a local  court.

The alleged terrorist, brought by Delhi Police from Ujjain in MP on transit remand, was produced before Metropolitan Magistrate Shailendra Malik. 

The court allowed the investigators to quiz Quaumuddin for seven days to unravel his complicity in the synchronised serial blasts in the capital that claimed 26 lives and injured several others.

The police, which arrested the suspect in connection with Connaught Place blast, submitted that he had conspired with others to execute the bombings. 

With the arrest of Quaumuddin in connection with the serial balsts, the number of suspects belonging to IM have gone up to seven. 

Five Delhi serial blasts accused — Mohd Saif, Zeeshan, Zia-ur Rehman, Saquib Nissar and Shakeel — were handed over to Gujarat police on October 27 for their alleged involvement in the July 26 serial blasts in Ahmedabad. 

Mohd Sadiq Sheikh, an alleged co-founder of Indian Mujahideen, is undergoing 14 days custodial interrogation for his complicity in the blasts.

Sheikh, who was arrested by the Mumbai police, was brought here by the Delhi Police from Ahmedabad.
