Jamaat-e-Islami demands Musharraf trial under article 6

LAHORE: Majlis-e-Shura of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution calling for trial of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf under article 6 of the Constitution.
In a statement issued here, JI’s Majlis-e-Shura demanded in his resolution that Nov 3, 2007 actions of Musharraf being an army chief should be undone.
The resolution termed the restoration of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and other deposed judges on their Nov 2 position a victory of people.
It, however, added that PCO and other judges appointed on political bases are still part of present judiciary, therefore, restoration could not be considered on Nov 2 position.
