Judges to be restored under agreement with Zardari: Nawaz LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief, Nawaz Sharif Friday announced that all the deposed judges will be reinstated on May 12 under the agreement reached with Pakistan People’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

The resolution for restoration of judges will be presented before the Parliament on May 12 and the notification will also be issued on the same day, he said while addressing a press conference here.

Nawaz Sharif said the present judges will continue to hold their offices and work on constitutional package in connection with judges will also continue.

“The date and modus operandi for restoration of judges were finalized during the marathon meetings with Asif Zardari in Dubai,” he informed, assuring that all the judges will be reinstated to November 2 position on May 12.

In this regard he said a resolution will be approved by the National Assembly in accordance with the Murree Declaration. The government will issue the notification to this effect on the same day, restoring all the deposed judges, he added.

PML-N Chief said a 5-member committee has been formed to review all the aspects in this regard.

He said his team will continue to work on the constitutional package in connection with the restoration of judges and come up with a final resolution of the issue after consulting all the stakeholders.

To a question regarding the present judges he said PML-N has its reservations about the present judges and Asif Zardari has been apprised about the same. However, Asif Zardari insisted that the present judges be allowed to hold their offices, he added.

Nawaz Sharif said some compromises have to be made for accomplishment of much bigger and greater objectives.

It is the goal of PML-N to get the sacked judges restored and Asif Zardari has conceded to this demand of ours and this renders completely insignificant the present judges issue, he said.
