Lahore, Pakistan:-Lahore High Court reserves verdict on polls deferment plea Lahore High Court Tuesday reserved its verdict over the government of Punjab plea for postponement of the bye elections in the province. The counsels of Punjab government Khwaja Haris and Mustafa Ramday in their arguments said that the election commission has announced the election schedule without consulting the provincial government. They urged for postponement of the election due to law and order. Citing intelligence reports, the lawyers said that the operation against militants in Waziristan and other areas could result in extreme reaction in Punjab. The counsel of former federal minister Sheikh Rashid argued that the election commission has been an independent institution saying the provincial government pleading postponement of polls wants to avoid impending defeat.
