Speaking exclusively to TIMES NOW, Charles Sobhraj’s fiancee, 20-year-old Nihita Biswas said that she and Sobhraj are meant for together. Sobhraj’s new lady love has also declared her love for the ‘bikini killer’ who she claims is innocent.
Nihita has a high praise for Sobhraj and speaking on him and about her choice said, “Everything is attractive about Charles Sobhraj. I think the first thing that attracted me is his humbleness. He is a nice, decent man. It is a great joy for me to know this nice man. There is no such past that I fear. All the dreadfulness about him is increased by media people. He has not been convicted in any thing. His name is just dragged into. We determined to be with each other. We are very compatible with each other.”
Police clamps down on Sobhraj’s free style ‘love’ in jail
Authorities in Kathmandu’s Central Jail in Nepal have clamped down on Charles Sobhraj’s free style frolicking with his 20-year-old new love, whom the celebrity criminal plans to wed after his release.
Sixty-four-year-old Sobhraj has been ‘engaged’ with Neha alias Nihita Bishwas and plans to marry her when he is released from the Nepal prison, where he has been languishing since September 2003.
Nicknamed the ‘Bikini killer’ and ‘Serpent’, Sobhraj has been accused of luring young women and killing many of them. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a District Court in July 2004 on charges of murdering an American and a Canadian tourist in Kathmandu in 1975.
Meanwhile, the jail administration has “restricted” the open display of love between Sobhraj and his young lover, often in front of prisoners and jail staff. The administration has now forced the “Bikini killer” and his lover to go indoor. “He can meet people, but there must be some norms that has to be followed,” a jail staff said.
Nihita, with a Nepali mother and a Bengali father based in Kathmandu, frequently comes to meet Sobhraj, jail officials said.
“The girl every day brings food for him and they share the food together,” one of the staff said.
Sobhraj may face three year jail term for bigamy
Charles Sobhraj’s hope of settling down with a Nepali women when the celebrity criminal is released from Kathmandu’s Central Jail may not materialise, for he may have to stay behind the bars for three more years if he ties the knot with his new found love.
The love affair of the criminal mastermind and his “engagement” to 20-year-old Nepali beauty Nihita Biswas has grabbed media attention in the Indian subcontinent.
Serving a life term on murder charge, Sobhraj is already married to Chantal, who lives in France. He also has a wife in Australia, a media report said. However, Sobhraj claims he has already divorced his first wife.
Nepalese law does not permit for polygamy and it can slap up to three years imprisonment on those who violate the law by engaging in second marriage, says lawyer Dinesh Tripathi.
“Unless he receives clearance from the French Embassy that he has divorced his first wife, he is not legally allowed to marry Nihita,” he said. As per Civil Code Section 9, re-marriage has been prohibited.
“In such a case unless Nepalese authorities inquire into the matter with the French government and get clearance he cannot marry the girl in Nepal. But if he wishes to do so outside Nepal, they cannot prevent it,” Tripathi said.
