Manchester United wins Carling Cup

Manchester United are looking good to achieve their dream title this year after winning the Carling Cup. Sir Alex Fergusson’s side beat defending champions Tottenham on penalties to lift their first title of the season.

Manchester United now has an eye on the premier league crown and the champions league trophy.

The Red Devils were in search of their first title of season 2009 and they set the Carling Cup final on fire with a full-on attack.

Tottenham Hotsuprs were not the ones to be lagging behind and soon launched their counter offensive. But, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who almost got United home, the Portuguese winger hitting the goal post with the scoreline reading nil-nil in the 93rd minute.

Both teams failed to convert chances into goals during the extra time and the match headed into a shoot out.

The Spurs failed to held their nerves while Manchester United grabbed the Carling Cup. It is one down and two to go for the Red Devils.
