Manmohan Singh under attack over Pakistan – India Statement

NEW DELHI India: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh under attack from Opposition over the Pakistan – India joint statement at Sharm el-Sheikh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi stepped in and took stock of the situation in the core group meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence on Friday.

The meeting was held today in the backdrop of the Indo-Pak joint statement in Egypt and unease in the party on the issue.

Besides Indian PM Manmohan Singh, the meeting was attended by Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister A K Antony and others.

India media said that there was some unease in a section of the party about the joint statement — de-linking of terrorism from composite dialogue process and the reference to Balochistan in it.
