Maria Belen Shapur is Mark Sanford’s mistress; Mark Sanford is having an affair with an Argentina resident named Maria Belén Shapur, it has been revealed. Without naming the woman, Mark Sanford admitted the afair and said that he will resign as head of the Republican Governor’s Association.
According to a blog, Maria Belén Shapur is an impressive woman: she speaks several languages and works for Bunge y Born, a large agribusiness and grain trading company.
Fox news reports Sanford as saying “I met this person a little over eight years ago, again, very innocently, and struck up a conversation”. And we had this incredibly earnest conversation. And at the end of it, I said, Could I get your e-mail? We swapped e-mails, whatever. And it began just on a very casual basis. But what I would say is I’m committed to trying to get my heart right because the one thing that Cubby and all the others have told me is that the odyssey that we’re all on in life is with regard to heart — not what I want or what you want, but in other words, indeed, this larger notion of truly trying to put other people first.”
