Meb Keflezighi Wins NYC Marathon, Meb Keflezighi captured the New York marathon on Sunday, becoming the first American in over two decades to win the race.
Keflezighi clocked two hours, nine minutes and 15 seconds, leaving out Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot of Kenya by 41 ticks.
Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia won the women’s side by only eight seconds on Ludmila Petrova of Russia, timing 2:28.52.
Paula Radcliffe, who won the last two New York marathons, finished fourth.
