Spain’s Rafael Nadal ground out a tough third round victory over Argentina’s David Nalbandian at the Miami Masters by 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
10th seed Fernando Verdasco would be in action later today against Jurgen Melzer, looking to book his place in the fourth round, as will his doubles partner, Feliciano López, who takes on Mardy Fish of the USA.
Spaniards Nicolás Almagro and Juan Carlos Ferrero are both already through to the last 16. Ferrero beat American John Isner 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 and Almagro eventually got the better of France’s Jeremy Chardy 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
There are no Spanish women left in the tournament, after both Carla Suárez Navarro and María José Martínez Sánchez lost in the second round.
