Nepra Approves Hike in Power Tariff

Pakistan News: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved an increa
se in power tariff of 3 electricity supply companies while the consumers of Hyderabad Electric supply have been given relief.
The decision was made despite countrywide protests against intense loadshedding.
Nepra has approved the hike in tariff applicable from the second quarter of the year. A per unit increase will be effective in power tariffs in Faisalabad, Peshawar and Multan electricity supply companies.
Faisalabad and Peshawar will see an increase in per-unit rate between 05 paisas and Rs 1.45. Multan will see a rise in tariff by 10 paisas to Rs 1.00 per unit.
The agricultural consumers of Faisalabad will have to pay an additional 70 paisas per unit. The increase is effective until October 2010.
