ISLAMABAD
resident-elect Asif Ali Zardari has asked Punjab Governor Salman Taseer to refrain from issuing critical statements about the PML-N government in Punjab.
The direction comes after a war of words between the governor and PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah.
Punjab Governor, Salman Taseer, along with other party members from Punjab met with President-elect Asif Zardari in Islamabad at an emergency meeting.
Sources say that Zardari in his discussion on Punjab said that he wants positive and constructive politics in order to uplift democracy.
Zardari reiterated that his party has no intentions of de-stabilizing the Punjab government.
He called on his party members to put forth a united effort to strengthen democracy, which he said, is the first priority of the PPP government.
