NWFP Cabinet Budget Meeting

PESHAWAR: The NWFP cabinet meeting began today to review and approve the budgetary proposals before presenting them in the provincial legislature.
NWFP Cabinet Budget MeetingThe Frontier province’s budget for financial year 2009-10 have an expected outlay of over Rs210 billion.

It is learnt that the budgetary proposals include 15 percent raise in salaries and pensions of the retired employees.

Unlike the outgoing financial year, the budgetary proposals will have an inbuilt deficit close to Rs10 billion because of widening gap between income and expenditure of the provincial government, according to an official.

Law and order is going to be the top priority in the next year budget, as major portion of the resources are expected to be earmarked for enhancing the operational capabilities of the law enforcement agencies, fighting militancy in the province.
