One Laptop Per Child

One laptop per child is the name of an organization. The aim of the organization is mainly to develop such a laptop that is not very expensive. Their motive is to make available such inexpensive devices that can easily be afforded by not so rich people. These devices would help children in their education. The main target of the association is the developing countries.

The plan that they have in mind is the development of a low cost laptop that educates the child and also entertains him at the same time. The organization is a non-profit kind which means that their only motive is to reduce illiteracy and poverty and they do not need money in return of their good deed. But obviously the organization requires funds in order to sustain. In this respect the organization is dependent upon huge and reputable organizations like Google, AMD, News Corporation, eBay and Red Hot.

The chairman of the organization is Nicholas Negroponte. Charles Kane is the President as well as the Chief Operating Officer of the OLPC. According to Nicholas his project is an educational project and not a laptop project. The organization is not only involved in the development of these low cost laptops but they also make sure that the deserving people get hold of it. Their efforts are not restricted to their country only. They are working for the comfort of every one. The organization is doing really well. A number of huge organizations are supporting them for free.
