ISLAMABAD: Chief spokesman of Pakistan Army has denied the news reports that suggested that Lieutenant General Shujaa Pasha, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) refused to meet with visiting US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke and US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen.
Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has declared the news “not correct”, saying that DG ISI was present in the meeting between Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaque Pervez Kayani and US officials held earlier today.
It was reported earlier that Lieutenant General Pasha had refused to hold his scheduled meeting with visiting top US officials in what said to be protest on US’ continuous accusations against ISI of having linkages with Taliban and al Qaeda.
Army spokesman has denied the occurrence of any such incident.
