Pakistan thwarting FBI team?
Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 5:01 am
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) team is cooling its heels in Islamabad now for than a week. Pakistanis are dodging the issue of granting them the permission to go to the village of Ajmal Kasab, the lone surviving terrorist of the Mumbai terror attacks of 26/11, and carry out an independent investigation.
The FBI is under legal obligation to carry out an independent investigation since the US law demands investigation and evidence and filing a chargesheet whenever US citizens are harmed even in a foreign land.
Based on the same legal requirement India had provided full access to the FBI team post-Mumbai strike including a joint interrogation of the lone arrested terrorist Ajmal Qasab.
The US Embassy in Pakistan has now informed the government back home about the blockade.
