KARACHI: Pakistan and Sri Lanka will clash in the final of ICC Twenty20 World Cup a little later today. The whole country is in the grip of cricket fever.

Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) have pledged not to carry out load shedding during the final match.

Pakistan was defeated by World Champions Australia ten years ago on June 21, 1999; however, Pakistan are to struggle to win the title. Initially, Pakistan faced defeats in the tournament; however, they grew up the impetus towards the final.

The talents of Lasith Malinga and Muttiah Murlitharan are long established, but spinner Ajantha Mendis has been one of the tournament’s revelations.

Umur Gul, who took the first ever five-wicket haul in a Twenty20international when Pakistan beat New Zealand in the Super 8s, and Shahid Afridi, whose form with the ball was never in doubt, but whose 51 in the semifinal ended a dismal run with the bat, spring to mind.

“I just hope everyone watching will enjoy it,” Sangakkara said, when asked about the final.
