Parliament approved the Interim Budget for 2009-10 on Wednesday (February 25), with the Rajya Sabha returning the measure.
The Lok Sabha passed the interim Budget on February 24, after Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee announced tax cuts worth about Rs 30,000 crore.
The interim Budget comprises vote-on-account, thus enabling the government to withdraw money from the Consolidated Fund, till a regular Budget is presented by the new government.
The UPA Government presented five regular Budgets beginning 2004-05. While all these were presented by P Chidambaram, the Interim Budget was presented by Pranab Mukherjee.
