Power texting, how to power text – A American Idol texting vote controversy involves “power texting” which can submit 3,000 to 5,000 votes in a 2-hour has some fans claiming foul over the finale votes.
The use of power texting is claimed by some American Idol fans to have given an unfair advantage to Kris Allen over Adam Lambert because AT&T reps provided phones and power texting tips at Kris Allen fan parties.
However, it’s much ado over nothing because AT&T reps provided the same help to Adam Lambert fans as well as multiple other contestants during past seasons.
In addition, Dial Idol provides a software program that can make hundreds of phone call votes from personal computers in support of a user’s Idol favorite.
Power Texting Instructions
- Here’s how to power text your American idol votes.
- You are going to create ten contacts in your cell phone (Adam1, Adam2, Adam3, etc.).
- Create a contact group (also known as a distribution list) and name it something like “Adam For The Win” and add your contacts (Adam1, Adam2, etc.) to the group. If you don’t know how to do that, check the manual for your phone or go to the AT&T Support Site
- Add the voting number for Adam (570x) to each of the contacts. At this point Adam has two numbers, but you can ONLY text to the FIRST number (Adam’s performance order number). Do this during the show before the voting starts.
- At the end of the show, send the message “vote” to your “Adam for the Win” contact group. This sends the message to the ten contacts at once. It will take a couple of seconds more than sending a single contact.
- Now, resend or forward the same message to your contact group over and over again for the next two hours.
Note that these power texting tips come from an Adam Lambert fan site, so obviously the expected winner got his share of power text votes just like Kris Allen.
