President, PM To Chair Meet On IDPs

ISLAMABAD: The President and the Prime Minister will jointly preside over a meeting today (Wednesday) in the Presidency to review measures taken for the rehabilitation of internally displaced persons as a result of operation against militants in Swat and adjoining areas.
The meeting will be attended by concerned Ministers, the Governor, Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of the Frontier Province, and United Nations representative in Islamabad besides others.
It is estimated that there are nearly 1.7 million internally displaced persons.
Britain and France have already announced immediate aid of 12 million Euros each for rehabilitation of the internally displaced persons.
Immediately on return the President advised the cabinet ministers to draw out a plan to regularly visit the camps for the internally displaced people and inform the government about the measures that need to be taken.
