ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News:Article 248 of the Constitution which gives immunity to President Zardari has been challenged in the Supreme Court (SC). The Communist Party of Pakistan (CPP) Chairman Jameel Ahmed filed the petition in which it is maintained that Pakistan is an Islamic country and Islamic laws don’t give immunity to any one at any level.
The petition maintains that Article 248 is a controversial clause which is also contradicted to many clauses including Articles 260 3-A, 227 and 62F.
The petitioner also asks the apex court to hear the party’s view along with the ongoing NRO cases being heard by a 17-member larger bench.
On the other hand, talking to media, Former Chairman Accountability Bureau Saifur Rehman has claimed that he has proof of corruption against President Asif Ali Zardari and he is ready to present the evidence in the court at a proper time.
